Israeli border guards arrest a Palestinian man who was angered over the mistreatment of his disabled son during a demonstration 07 April 2006 against the separation barrier in the West Bank village of Bilin. Israel has always maintained that the barrier is for security and not a land grab, despite Palestinian fears of its ultimate goal. Once completed, the 670-kilometre (415-mile) mix of concrete, steel and razor wire will effectively confiscate eight to 10 percent of Palestinian land and some 49,400 Palestinians living in 48 villages will find themselves on the Israeli side of the barrier.
